Thermal Break Technology - How does it work?
Updated: Oct 30, 2022
We have previously written about thermal bridging and how it causes major energy loss in a home. But what can you do about it? There are a few different techniques used in framing to create a separation from the wall studding, and one of them is our Thermal Break Technology.
This technique creates two layers of framing studs with one set against the exterior wall and one against the interior wall. This dual wall does not allow any studding to make contact all the way through. The thermal energy which travels down the wood has no where to go and does not carry through to the home. With our full house builds the wall is still connected at the bottom and top plates of the wall, but with our tiny home builds we build the walls completely separate from the other and finally tie together at the top to lock everything in place.
Some of the other advanced framing techniques include stagger stud and "mooney" wall construction.
